Abstract Floral paintings

Jansen regularly renders blossoms as abstract types plus in so doing, celebrates the liquid, powerful training of painting it self. In Field analysis (2014), strokes of orange-red, blue, and purple paint overlap and unfurl like rose petals beginning to bloom. It's one of the most representational works within the show. Shoal II (2015), which ultimately shows abstracted plants arranged in cell-like groups, brings to mind the impressionistic floating forms of Monet’s Water Lilies.

A number of works coated in palettes of blues, blacks, greys, and whites evoke a feeling of serenity, plus some undertake an ethereal high quality inside contrasts of dark and light. In cyanotype-like Waka Jawaka (2015) (2015), meanwhile, forms resembling underwater plants like algae or red coral bloom up; the forms tend to be natural and suggestive, evoking an x-ray image inside their black, white, and blue tonality.

Jansen’s works show a spirited research of products and process, and a committed work to evoke power through radiant, enlivened imagery. With every floating, indiscernible entity and vaguely natural type, another layer regarding the artist’s procedure is uncovered into audience.

In Keep falling on my mind (2015), disparate themes from Jansen’s work coalesce in a waterfall of speckles and splatters in cool colors. The background is absolute blue and is overlaid by intense smatterings of dots that become less heavy and opaque because they move along the fabric. A tranquil however electric feeling shines through, creating an expressive, mental complexity which at core of Jansen’s work’s energy.
